About Me

My name is Lonnie Harbour.  I’m a software developer by vocation and have enjoyed spending most of my professional life located in the Jacksonville Florida area. I spend a lot of time building web applications using JVM based frameworks and technologies. I have experience with a number of front controller frameworks including Spring, JSF, Stripes, and Struts but lately I’ve become a strong advocate and devotee of the Groovy/Grails framework. There is much to be said for convention over configuration! Check out my posts on the subject, some of which were made before I dove into the tech stack “full time”.

I enjoy exploring new ideas and paradigms which is why I’ve recently been exploring Scala and the Play framework.

When I’m not engaged with something tech related, I enjoy riding around in a random manner on my Kawasaki cruiser, reading and learning about history, and appreciating music of nearly every genre or form. Much to the chagrin of my wife, I’ve also been known to try to hack my way through a standard or two on various musical instruments I’ve accumulated over the years. I’m a dedicated fan of our local NFL team, the Jaguars, and an unpublished author of what is probably some very bad speculative fiction. Nevertheless, hope springs eternal!

I also live on the net here…
